Turkmenistan: UNDP Launches Digital Literacy Training for 60 Medical Workers to Strengthen Healthcare Services

Ashgabat: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan has launched a digital literacy training course for 60 medical workers of the Directorate of the Center for Infectious Diseases under the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

The training will run from October 20 to December 20, 2026, and aims to equip doctors and healthcare professionals with practical digital skills to effectively use innovative technologies in medical services.

The initiative comes as UNDP and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry introduce a range of digital tools and scalable solutions across the country’s healthcare system, particularly in national tuberculosis and infectious disease programmes.

The training will focus on the effective use of digital technologies, including video-supported treatment, mobile applications containing treatment protocols, QR codes for tracking and managing medical equipment, and mobile X-ray systems equipped with the CAD4TB artificial intelligence module.

The initiative aims to improve the quality and safety of healthcare services by strengthening the digital capabilities of medical professionals and enabling them to adopt modern technologies in their daily work.

The programme is part of ongoing cooperation between UNDP and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to strengthen national and local mechanisms for digital initiatives in healthcare.

UNDP emphasized that building the digital capacities of medical workers and engaging healthcare institutions would support the systematic adoption of innovative tools, improve healthcare delivery and contribute to national health priorities and broader sustainable development goals.
